"They try to put out the light of Allah with their mouths. However, the light of Allah will continue to glow even if the unbelievers hate it." Sura As-Saff 61:8
How many lies are the people fed, how many! Subhanallah.
LIES&MISCONCEPTIONS:
The Prophet sallallahu alayhim wa sallam’s character.
If you want to know the truth, if you call yourself intelligent or educated, then firstly do not rely on here say. People are so lazy these days if one random person says something the rest follow like zombies. If you want to really know the blessed man, not what a muslim says, read what Michael Hart wrote as to why he featured Muhammad sallallahuu alayki wasalam as the most influential man in the world

speaking on the character of Muhammad in Young India
He must be called the Saviour of Humanity. I believe that if a man like him were to assume the dictatorship of the modern world, he would succeed in solving its problems in a way that would bring it much needed peace and happiness.
The 'modern world' finds it hard to swallow Muhammad sallallahu alayhu wasalam's marriages. A non muslim explains it simply:

The 'modern world' finds it hard to swallow Muhammad sallallahu alayhu wasalam's marriages. A non muslim explains it simply:
But do you mean to tell me that the man who in the full flush of youthful vigour, a young man of four and twenty (24), married a woman much his senior, and remained faithful to her for six and twenty years (26), at fifty years of age when the passions are dying married for lust and sexual passion? Not thus are men's lives to be judged. And you look at the women whom he married, you will find that by every one of them an alliance was made for his people, or something was gained for his followers, or the woman was in sore need of protection.

Head of the state as well as the Church, he was Caesar and Pope in one; but, he was pope without the pope's claims, and Caesar without the legions of Caesar, without a standing army, without a bodyguard, without a palace, without a fixed revenue. If ever any man had the right to say that he ruled by a Right Divine, it was Mohammad, for he had all the power without instruments and without its support.

My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular level.

If greatness of purpose, smallness of means, and astounding results are the three criteria of human genius, who could dare to compare any great man in modern history with Muhammad? The most famous men created arms, laws and empires only. They founded, if anything at all, no more than material powers which often crumbled away before their eyes. This man moved not only armies, legislations, empires, peoples and dynasties, but millions of men in one-third of the then inhabited world; and more than that, he moved the altars, the gods, the religions, the ideas, the beliefs and souls. . . his forbearance in victory, his ambition, which was entirely devoted to one idea and in no manner striving for an empire; his endless prayers, his mystic conversations with God, his death and his triumph after death; all these attest not to an imposture but to a firm conviction which gave him the power to restore a dogma. This dogma was twofold, the unity of God and the immateriality of God; the former telling what God is, the latter telling what God is not; the one overthrowing false gods with the sword, the other starting an idea with words.Philosopher, orator, apostle, legislator, warrior, conqueror of ideas, restorer of rational dogmas, of a cult without images; the founder of twenty terrestrial empires and of one spiritual empire, that is Muhammad. As regards all standards by which human greatness may be measured, we may well ask, is there any man greater than he?

Islam being spread by the sword
I think the reason this idea has come about is because of the concept of jihad. Jihad means struggle, not attack. Jihad could be against oneself. Tearing yourself away from the fake life’s pleasures. Fighting shaytan when he tries to tempt. Jihad can be resisting alcohol. Then there is jihad of the tongue. Defending one’s religion, ones freedom to believe in the One Lord and his Prophets. Then there’s the physical jihad, again defending not attacking. One cannot just blow up people who do no wrong e.g 9/11 http://www.911proof.com/ or 7/7 http://video.google.co.uk/videosearch?q=7+7+bombings&www_google_domain=www.google.co.uk&hl=en&emb=0&aq=0&oq=7%2F7+#
People are joining Islam at a very high rate. And Allah Ta’llah said: And thou seest mankind entering the religion of Allah in troops,Then hymn the praises of thy Lord, and seek forgiveness of Him. Lo! He is ever ready to show mercy.(Surah Nasr) and the reason is not bin Laden at their doorstep. Thousands of converts after 9/11. Why?

The Muslim women are oppressed
Islam gave rights to women before any government decided to. The 7th Century Rights of women are unbelieveably sufficient to this day. They include, among others:
1. The right and duty to obtain education.
2. The right to have their own independent property.
3. The right to work to earn money if they need it or want it.
4. Equality of reward for equal deeds.
5. The right to express their opinion and be heard.
6. The right to provisions from the husband for all her needs and more.
7. The right to negotiate marriage terms of her choice.
8. The right to obtain divorce from her husband, even on the grounds that she simply can't stand him. (pls note that God deeply frowns upon divorce as a solution unless there is hardly any other alternative but it does not mean that men have more right to divorce their wives than women do.)
9. The right to keep all her own money (she is not responsible to maintain any relations).
10. The right to get sexual satisfaction from her husband.
11. custody of their children after divorce.
12. to refuse any marriage that does not please them
Allah Ta’alah shows the equality before the Lord of man and woman: “For Muslim men and women - for believing men and women, for devout men and women, for true men and women, for men and women who are patient and constant, for men and women who humble themselves, for men and women who give in charity, for men and women who fast (and deny themselves), for men and women who guard their chastity, and for men and women who engage much in God's praise - for them has God prepared forgiveness and great reward.”
(Qur'an 33:35)
Again with all the reverts, the Western and 'free' women are coming to Islam by the thousands
are they just stupid or brainwashed? They veil themselves. Why? Because the hijab is a weapon of freedom. She guards her body from any perverse gazes of men. She has that power. Her beauty is not in her body but in her heart. Her beauty is for her husband, and the sanctity of marriage. Her words are more powerful than a low cut top. That is respect, that is dignity and that is a real woman. A question....is a nun oppressed?
